New Federal Regulations

Customers,

I am sure most of you have heard of the new Federal Regulations concerning the resale of Toys, Furniture, and Clothing designed for children under the age of 12. This legislation is named the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). There is much confusion surrounding the new legislation. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) recently issued guidance intended for resellers of Children’s Products. However, this guidance issued by the CSPC does not change the law, merely offers guidance for resellers.

In light of this new legislation, Christian Community In Action has decided for the health, safety and well being of our customers to follow the letter of the law. The new legislation goes into effect February 10, 2009. Beginning February 7, 2009 the Dorcas Thrift Shop will no longer resell items designed for children under 12. This includes Toys, Children’s Clothing, and Children’s Furniture. We will continue to sell games, and puzzles designed for children over the age of 12.

We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause. Again, Christian Community In Action has decided to take these actions for the health and well being of our customers. We hope that we have your cooperation and understanding as we transition into following the new legislation. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. We thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely

Harold Elixson
